Coopers Beach is only 2 minutes’ walk from 3Kupe holiday home. It is a 2.5km long white sand beach which is safe for swimming and great for kids or young families. A boogie board and sand chairs are provided. As an added treat, you can catch tuatuas anywhere along Coopers Beach.
Diving & Snorkelling: there are so many fantastic spots for diving and snorkelling, that it would be impossible to list them all. Scallops, mussels and crayfish are plentiful in the area.
Fishing: from the deck at 3Kupe you can see the fish jumping. It’s the ideal holiday home for the keen fisherman! In season, you can catch yellow-fin tuna. Snapper and kingfish are plentiful all year round in the Bay. Further off the coast you can chase marlin and other billfish. There are numerous charter operators in the area, or bring your own boat.
Golf: there are 3 golf clubs within 30 mins drive of 3Kupe, including the championship standard Carrington Resort, the Whangaroa Golf Club and the Kaitaia Golf Club.
There are also local clubs close by where you can play lawn bowls, tennis and croquet.
Kite Surfing: learn to kite surf at one of the world’s leading schools, which is based near 3Kupe holiday home in summer. Nearby Tokerau or Rangiputa Beaches are ideal for kite surfing.
Ninety Mile Beach and Cape Reinga: Cape Reinga is the Northern-most point of New Zealand. It’s only 130km from 3Kupe and is a great day-trip. Ninety Mile Beach is only 30 minutes’ drive away. Try sand boarding down the dunes at Ahipara, blo-karting on 90 Mile Beach or surfing the wild West Coast with Ahipara Adventures.
Wineries: Carrington Estate, New Zealand ‘s northern-most vineyard and winery, located on the beautiful Karikari Peninsula and Okahu Estate Vineyard are both only 20 minutes’ drive from 3Kupe. There are also a number of wineries in the Bay of Islands region.
